Job summary

Baptist is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and report defined laboratory procedures focusing on patient outcomes. The role requires handling shifts with overtime and potential callbacks as needed, along with adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Ideal candidates have an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent military training, and national certification must be obtained within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or military equivalent in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Basic computer literacy required.
• Certification in medical laboratory field expected within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
• Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
• Performs quality control, proficiency testing and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control.
• Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce errors and adverse outcomes.
• Assesses, evaluates and draws appropriate conclusions.
• Follows regulatory and competency requirements and maintains safe laboratory practice.
• Completes assigned goals.
