Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Medical Lab Scientist to become a critical diagnostic expert, performing a wide range of laboratory tests to ensure accurate and timely results for patient care.

You will work across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and other disciplines, analyzing specimens, operating instruments, and enforcing quality control and regulatory standards to support clinical decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in biology or chemistry required by CLIA standards.
• Registered or certified laboratory professional preferred.
• Experience with waived, moderate, and high complexity testing is expected.

Responsibilities

• Performs and reports waived, moderately complex, and highly complex test procedures on patient specimens.
• Provides clinical correlation of results and rapid notification of critical values.
• Maintains major automated equipment through calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Performs calibration and quality control procedures and keeps records of testing.
• Participates in proficiency testing and reviews results with laboratory leaders.
• Assists in validating new procedures and equipment for up-to-date lab technology.
