Job summary

Saint Joseph Hospital - Elgin, part of Prime Healthcare, seeks a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform a range of CLIA‑authorized tests with strict adherence to procedures and QA policies. You will handle specimen analysis across hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and related areas, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

The role requires ASCP certification (or equivalent), a relevant Bachelor’s degree, and state licensure where applicable; hospital lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Current and valid state license where required.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to laboratory procedures for collection, processing, analysis and reporting of results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions when needed.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor when needed.
• Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures using manual and automated methods in multiple disciplines.
• Maintenance and documentation of instruments and equipment as required.
• Review accuracy of patient results prior to reporting; recognize age-specific differences.
