Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or graduate degree in biological sciences, chemistry, or mathematics and successful completion of a MLS/CLS program NAACLS-accredited.
• Alternative: 4-year program including 12 months in a medical technology pathway with certification.
• For GS-7/9/11, education must meet the federal qualification standards.
• Graduate education or combination meets the minimum qualifications as described.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized lab testing in chemistry, microbiology, hematology, molecular diagnostics, immunology, and immunohematology.
• Interpret results, troubleshoot discrepancies, and address instrument malfunctions.
• Collect and evaluate patient specimens with proper handling and documentation.
• Maintain quality control, proficiency testing, calibration, and compliance with accreditation standards.
