Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a full spectrum of clinical laboratory testing in a fast-paced environment within the NM system. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related field.
• ASCP certification or eligibility.
• Licensure/certification as MLS/MT or ASCP eligible.

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of pre-analytic workflow to ensure correct orders and samples.
• Verifies orders and non-patient information according to protocol.
• Collects, receives, labels, and processes specimens per SOPs.
• Performs analytical testing following SOPs and maintains instrument integrity.
• Performs QC and ensures test results are accurate and properly reported.
• Ensures proper specimen storage and post-analytical reporting.
• Documents and communicates critical values and abnormal results per protocol.
• Participates in training and adherence to safety and confidentiality policies.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the ASCP certification examination

General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible or Categorical BB, C, H or M (ASCP) Certification or eligible
