Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA 42CFR493.1489.
• Education evaluated by an acceptable credentialing agency and deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology.
• Louisiana state licensure required.
• New graduate board certification in 1 year of hire (Louisiana excluded).

Responsibilities

• Meets expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Performs routine and complex laboratory procedures in the primary section to which assigned.
• Operates, maintains, troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment; notifies Bio-med as needed.
• Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed.
• Ensures the laboratory's quality control program is followed.
• Calculates, enters, and verifies results; uses the Laboratory Information System.
• Notifies and documents critical laboratory values.
• Processes patient specimens with appropriate handling and pediatric considerations.
• Participates in evaluating, developing, and implementing new testing procedures.
• Demonstrates competence in patient care responsibilities and population-specific needs.
• Adheres to CHRISTUS Health CORE values and regulatory requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
