Job summary

Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship requirement per VA policy
• Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college/university
• Certification options: MLS/MT generalist or ASCP/AMT options
• English language proficiency as required by 38 U.S.C. 7403(f)

Responsibilities

• Independently performs complex routine and specialized testing across chemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology and immunohematology
• Develops, performs, evaluates, interprets and validates laboratory procedures and results
• Conducts quality control, proficiency checks, calibrations and routine instrument maintenance
• Identifies irregularities, documents findings, resolves or escalates issues as appropriate
• Collaborates with healthcare providers, delivers accurate data and communicates critical results
• Assists in laboratory safety, recall of new test systems and competency programs
• Maintains documentation for regulatory compliance and participates in continuous improvement
