Job Description

Position: Clinical Laboratory Assistant II - Microbiology
Shift: Night shift; 11pm-7:30am; Full-Time

Responsibilities

• Accession patient samples into the Laboratory Information System, ensuring accuracy and timely entry.
• Process specimens (centrifuging, aliquoting, handling) and deliver to designated labs, preserving samples appropriately.
• Identify and resolve specimen issues such as mislabeling, insufficient quantity, or incorrect containers, documenting all actions.
• Perform add-on testing per departmental protocols.
• Conduct waived to moderate complexity testing as approved.
• Respond to inquiries via phone, communicate test results, and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Review pending tests and troubleshoot instrument problems with support from medical laboratory scientists.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional biology/chemistry credits preferred.
• Minimum two years’ experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I or equivalent in a clinical setting.
