Position Overview

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Assistant II - Microbiology to assist Medical Laboratory Scientists by performing routine laboratory support duties and approved testing across various specialized laboratories, including Immunology, Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Microbiology, Virology, Molecular Diagnostics, Shock Trauma Stat Lab, and Immunogenetics, in accordance with departmental procedures and CLIA regulations.

Principal Responsibilities

• Review quality control for testing acceptability and notify technologists of any issues.
• Evaluate results and specimen integrity based on testing guidelines.
• Troubleshoot instrument problems with assistance from Medical Laboratory Scientists.
• Perform waived to moderate complexity tests such as serologic detection, latex agglutination, complete blood counts, etc.
• Manage specimen issues, ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and timely processing.
• Process and deliver specimens, and store them appropriately.
• Respond to customer inquiries, solve complaints, and communicate test results professionally.
• Review and act on pending tests and perform specimen management tasks.
• Process Add-On testing as per departmental protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional coursework in biology or chemistry preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Assistant I or equivalent in a clinical setting.
