Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our team at our RTP, NC facility. The role follows a Wednesday–Saturday, 12pm to 10:30pm schedule, with full training provided for new grads.

You will handle specimens, operate core analyzers, and ensure accurate reporting while maintaining patient confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a chemical/biological science or clinical laboratory science, with preferred certification like ASCP or AMT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a chemical/biological science or clinical laboratory science.
• Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits may meet education requirements per CLIA standards.
• Understanding of laboratory operations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Follows the laboratory’s procedure for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Proficiently performs the principal functional responsibilities of the Technician job duties as necessary.
• Verifies proper and consistent identification of specimens prior to and during all accessioning and processing steps.
• Records initials on all paperwork to indicate work performed by individual.
• Notifies Senior Technologist, Team Lead, Supervisor, Lab Manager or Lab Director of any identification discrepancies and documents action taken.
• Operates Flow Cytometers, Slide stainer and CBC analyzer instruments in order to perform assigned duties.
• Tests specimens completely, accurately and within established time frames.
• Understands and follows established testing procedures.
• Understands that all patient information is confidential and complies with HIPAA regulations.
