Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Port Huron, MI is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and complex tests for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. You will analyze specimens, operate and calibrate analyzers, and ensure accuracy under QA/QI standards.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a related field and MLS certification within 18 months of hire; MT/MLS certification is preferred. Daily work times are varied.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related field.
• MLS certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.
• MT/MLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determines normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses.
• Analyzes blood cells using microscopic techniques and procedures.
• Prepares blood products for transfusions and performs compatibility tests.
• Reads and reports cultures and antibiotic sensitivities.
• Maintains and calibrates analyzers and other lab equipment; performs preventive maintenance.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and ensures QA/QI standards.
• Provides information and reports findings; supports infection-control policies.
• Trains new employees and supports continuous professional development.
• Performs other related duties as required.
