Job summary

Mahnomen Health Center seeks a Medical Technologist to perform clinical laboratory procedures, assure quality, and maintain instruments, collaborating with staff across departments.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and ASCP certification, strong communication, and proficiency with MS Office; duties include testing, QC, instrument maintenance, and staff training. This is a full-time position supporting patient care in a community setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and the successful completion of an accredited medical technology program or the equivalent training, education, and experience.
• ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized medical technology certification.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special laboratory tests in a designated medical specialty area and initiates corrective actions when needed.
• Calls in critical test results to physicians or nurses and maintains logs according to protocol.
• Performs quality-control tests and analyzes data, taking corrective action when results are out of range.
• Documents instrument checks and preventive maintenance and reports unresolved instrument issues to supervision.
• Provides in-service training to laboratory staff and students.
• Performs clerical functions and contributes to general laboratory operations.
• Participates in department meetings and continuing education programs.
• Observes hospital policies, procedures, and safety practices.
