The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree with an accredited medical technology program and ASCP certification or equivalent, enabling effective testing, reporting, and service delivery in a hospital laboratory setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with accredited medical technology program.
• ASCP certification or equivalent nationally recognized medical technology certification.
• Experience in performing clinical laboratory procedures and maintaining QA processes.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and special laboratory tests in a designated medical specialty area, resolving inconsistencies and seeking help when needed.
• Calls in critical test results to physicians or nurses and maintains abnormal results logs.
• Performs quality-control tests and analyzes data to take corrective action.
• Documents instrument checks and preventive maintenance, and reports unresolved issues to the section head.
• Provides in-service training to staff and students in designated areas.
• Performs clerical functions and supports general laboratory operations.
• Participates in specimen collection and processing per policy.
• Attends department meetings and continuing education sessions.
• Adheres to laboratory and hospital policies and safety practices.
