Job summary

Advocate Health Care is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform, evaluate, and monitor laboratory tests within established protocols across pediatric to adult patients. You will ensure timely results and support workflow in a fast-paced acute care setting.

Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Clinical Lab Technician or related field.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm and professional manner.
• Maintains patient confidentiality in and out of the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Performs, evaluates, and monitors laboratory tests as authorized within established protocols.
• Monitors workflow and makes necessary adjustments to complete work in a timely manner.
• Evaluates results for clinical significance and reports test results according to policy.
• Performs calibration and maintenance of instruments and quality control.
• Collects specimens from newborn, pediatric, and adult patients according to protocol.
• Provides technical assistance to Phlebotomists and support staff.
• Ensures compliance with accrediting agency standards in an acute setting.
• Performs testing across transfusion services, microbiology, chemistry, hematology, histology, coagulation, and flow cytometry.
