Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Professional to join our team at UAB St. Vincent’s in Birmingham, AL. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is offered for external candidates.

Work schedule is 7 on / 7 off, 12:30 PM – 11:00 PM, with responsibilities including specimen acceptance, routine and complex testing, instrument troubleshooting, and report generation. Minimum qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science or MLS, plus 1+ year of lab testing experience (or MLS).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
• 1 year or more of clinical laboratory testing experience or MLS degree.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions per SOPs.
• Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
• Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
• Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
• Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear PPE.
