Qualifications

• Phlebotomy techniques and specimen handling.
• Laboratory QA procedures and equipment maintenance.
• Follow complex technical protocols with attention to detail.
• Utilize EHR and laboratory information systems.
• Maintain patient confidentiality under HIPAA.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection for patients of all ages.
• Process and prepare laboratory specimens for transport to outside reference labs, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
• Conduct authorized diagnostic tests and waived screenings with accuracy.
• Perform and document all QC testing and instrument calibrations before processing samples.
• Maintain logs of equipment maintenance, temperatures, and validations to ensure system integrity.
• Record and report all test results within the EHR for provider review.
• Participate in proficiency testing programs to validate skills and maintain certification.
• Monitor reagent and supply inventory to prevent shortages and ensure materials are in date.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and notify supervisor of unresolved issues.
• Follow OSHA safety guidelines for bloodborne pathogens and infection control.
