Job summary

Duke Health Lake Norman Hospital in Mooresville, North Carolina is seeking a Laboratory Technician to perform routine and specialized procedures in specimen processing and analysis, including phlebotomy and quality control. This role supports patient care by delivering accurate results and reliable service to clinicians.

The successful candidate will have basic computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong communication with patients and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; phlebotomy training recommended.
• 2+ years in clinical tech or phlebotomy certification preferred.
• Basic phlebotomy, specimen processing, and computer skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly with patients and staff.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and specialized laboratory procedures.
• Prepare tests including cytogenetics, general laboratory, POC testing, urinalysis, phlebotomy.
• Obtain total volume, perform aliquot and distribute all urine specimens.
• Properly determine urine volume and label aliquot containers.
• Communicate professionally with patients and staff for problem recognition and resolution.
• Utilize hospital systems and software for record keeping and order entry.
• Perform quality control, safety, and infection control procedures.
• Receive and process specimens as required by procedures.
• Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with office tasks.
