Job summary

South Texas Spine Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Technologist (MLT/MT) to work under the Laboratory Manager, performing routine and specialized tests with accuracy and efficiency. The role includes phlebotomy and clerical duties, supporting department policies and ensuring patient care quality.

You will interpret results, communicate findings to medical staff, and maintain HIPAA compliance while upholding confidentiality and a professional demeanor.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• Certification in MLT/MT preferred (ASCP/AMT).
• BLS required or obtained within 30 days of hire.
• Experience with routine lab tasks, instrument maintenance, and specimen processing.
• English reading/writing and effective communication; additional languages preferred.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform routine and specialized laboratory tests.
• Perform phlebotomy and clerical duties as needed.
• Interpret test results and tailor them to patient needs per department policies.
• Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Collaborate with Laboratory Manager and team to develop and implement lab policies.
