Job summary

Austin Regional Clinic is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Medical Laboratory Scientist (Charge) to perform routine laboratory tests and oversee processing and quality control. The role may include phlebotomy and supervision duties with emphasis on accuracy and timely reporting of results.

The position requires CLIA Testing Personnel qualification, an appropriate degree (MLT/MLS) and relevant certifications; education and experience may include ASCP/AMT eligibility.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Clinical Laboratory Science or MLT with completed school lab training.
• ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy may be required.
• Qualified as Testing Personnel as defined under CLIA.
• MLS path requires a science degree and clinical lab program.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine medical laboratory tests for diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease.
• Handle specimen processing, test performance and reporting of results.
• Maintain records for proficiency testing samples and quality control activities.
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, and lab policies; ensure proper calibration and maintenance of instruments.
• Work with the Lab Supervisor on scheduling, training, and compliance.
