Job summary

Austin Regional Clinic is seeking a part-time Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist for its on-site laboratory in Austin, TX. The role supports specimen processing, testing, and reporting, with potential phlebotomy duties and compliance with CLIA and organizational policies.

Qualifications include MLT or MLS training; ASCP/AMT preferred; experience with plate reading and parasitology is a plus. Flexible scheduling and opportunities in a large medical group are offered.

Qualifications

• Education: ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
• Phlebotomy may be required.
• Qualified as Testing Personnel per CLIA.
• Plate reading and Parasitology experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting results.
• Arrange for pickup or delivery of specimens to reference or outside labs.
• Maintain records proving proficiency testing samples are tested like patient samples.
• Adhere to quality control policies and document calibrations and maintenance.
• Recognize factors affecting measurements and escalate when needed.
• Inform appropriate personnel of alert/critical results and document.
• Communicate test results, ranges, and specimen requirements to authorized sources.
• Demonstrate skills to students and new employees.
• Ensure remedial actions when test systems deviate from specs.
• Ensure patient results are reported only after corrections and proper function.
• Administer testing according to policies and procedures.
• Apply Total Quality Management guidelines to lab processes.
• Adhere to OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
