Job summary

University of Washington is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician (CLT 1) for the Phlebotomy & Specimen Processing Services team at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The position involves processing specimens, performing phlebotomy, and delivering strong patient-related service.

Requires high school diploma, 1 year of lab experience, and completion of an ASCP-approved lab assistant course; MA-P certification within 180 days is required by the department.

Qualifications

• High school graduation with 1 year of clinical laboratory experience.

• MA-P certification within 180 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Process specimens including receiving, sorting, centrifuging and aliquoting, and matching to requisitions.
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection on patients of all ages.
• Provide courteous, accurate customer service to patients and staff.
• Orient and train new employees and assist in quality-improvement activities.
• Resolve specimen and order-related problems with timely documentation.
