Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in Los Angeles, CA seeks a Clinical Laboratory Technician II to support pediatric care in a high-volume laboratory. The role involves phlebotomy, patient and donor specimen handling, and routine lab duties under supervision.

Under the guidance of licensed staff, you will perform patient prep, QC, and reagent management, and may participate in donor screening and blood drive operations at the CHLA Blood Donor Center. The position is full-time, daytime schedule.

Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary:

The Clinical Laboratory Technician II under direct supervision of licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issue of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position. Whole blood and platelet collections - supplying CHLA patients with required blood products. Staff register, screen, and draw volunteer donors for whole blood and plateletsincludes phlebotomy for whole blood and platelet collections - supplying CHLA patients with required blood products. Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience:

Required :

• 1+ years of experience working for a large laboratory or academic institution required.
• 3+ years of experience in phlebotomy for Blood Drives.
• Experience in medical terminology sufficient to understand and discuss technical aspects of pathology and laboratory medicine.

Preferred : Blood Donor Experience

Education/Licensure/Certifications:

Required :

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Valid California Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) Certificate required

verifiable by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) when duties include phlebotomy.

Reliable transportation will be needed for Blood Drives

Preferred : AA degree preferred

Pay Scale Information

USD $52,728.00 - USD $70,304.00
