Children's Hospital Los Angeles is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technician II to support patient care in the Patient & Laboratory Services team. Under supervision, you perform phlebotomy tasks, specimen preparation, client services, reagent and supply management, and routine QC in a licensed laboratory.
The position requires 3+ years of technical phlebotomy experience, strong medical terminology, and a California CPT certificate when duties include phlebotomy.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:30 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.; with every other weekend reqiuired.
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Clinical Laboratory Technician II under direct supervision of unlicensed or licensed CLS, MLT, or section manager, functions as an unlicensed or licensed staff member in a licensed clinical laboratory performing duties approved by California business code 1269, CLIA, and other regulatory agencies. Duties and responsibilities include patient preparation, specimen preparation, client service activities, preparation and management of reagents and supplies, and performing procedures and QC functions approved by regulatory agencies. Performs all job duties with sensitivity and attention to the age and developmental issue of the patient population(s) being served. May be asked to take direction from a Lead or Senior level position.
The Patient & Laboratory Services team supports patient care and research operations through specimen collection, patient registration, specimen processing, and coordination of reference testing. Services include inpatient and outpatient phlebotomy, laboratory specimen accessioning and processing, send-out testing coordination, and after-hours support for research and laboratory patients. The team plays a vital role in ensuring timely, accurate diagnostic testing across CHLA.
