Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Team Leader for the RIA team in Burlington, NC. You will assist the supervisor with day-to-day operations, train staff and ensure timely production reports, while maintaining high quality patient results.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in a chemical/biological science and 5+ years of clinical lab testing experience, with ASCP/AMT certifications preferred; supervisory experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
• 5 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience.
• ASCP and/or AMT Certifications.
• 6 months or more of supervising or leading a team.
• In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
• Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
• Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
• High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
• Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
• Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
• Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

Responsibilities

• Assist the supervisor with the day to day operations of the RIA department
• Send daily, weekly and monthly productions reports to management
• Assist with the training of new hires and the development of current employees
• Keep supervisor informed of group progress, problems, employee performance and any significant factors affecting assigned responsibilities
• Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
• Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to SOPs
• Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
• Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
• Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
• Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
• Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
• Assist with processing of specimens when needed
• Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
