Job summary

The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is seeking a Laboratory Student Technician for the Critical Care, Outpatient, and Outreach Laboratories. The role involves receiving, accessioning, and processing specimens, and supporting 24/7/365 operations in the critical care labs while outpatient hours are 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a four year or two year science related field. Prefer the program to be Medical Technology.
• Meets minimum continuing education requirements and mandatory health surveillance requirements. Demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.

• Receives, accession, and processes laboratory specimens.
• Transports specimens as needed and ensures proper handling.
• Answers telephone inquiries regarding patient results, specimen collection requirements, and test availability.
