Job summary

The Miriam Hospital in Providence, RI is seeking a clinical laboratory professional to perform highly complex tests in the Pathology Department. You will read and interpret results, calibrate equipment, and ensure quality control while following hospital policies.

Responsibilities include specimen validation, reagent prep, tests across methods (EIA, IFA, Chemiluminescence, electrophoresis), and staff training.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a lab science such as chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science, medical technology or closely related field or equivalent education and experience as defined by CLIA standards.
• National ASCP certification or eligible in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology or related field.
• Ability to operate laboratory equipment and perform procedures with accuracy and interpret results.

Responsibilities

• Receives specimens and verifies patient IDs and orders to ensure proper labeling and handling.
• Performs complex tests across multiple methodologies and validates QC results.
• Interprets test results and communicates findings to physicians per protocol.
• Maintains equipment through calibration, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance.
• Mentors students and staff, and participates in quality assurance activities.
