Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to receive and prepare specimens, perform routine and specialized tests, and provide data to physicians for diagnosis and treatment. You will calibrate and maintain equipment and contribute to quality control and safety standards.

You will adhere to regulatory guidelines, maintain patient confidentiality, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, clinical laboratory science, or related scientific field.
• Current CLS/MT license or eligible to obtain license within required timeframe.

Responsibilities

• Receives, prepares and handles specimens according to standard protocols.
• Performs routine and specialized laboratory tests and calculations to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Partakes in quality control and instrument maintenance/troubleshooting to ensure accurate results.
• Maintains equipment calibration, performance verification and safety procedures.
• Adheres to regulatory compliance and confidentiality requirements.
• Performs phlebotomy as appropriate and supports data entry for patient records.
