Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform routine and complex diagnostic tests on blood, tissue, and other fluids. You will confirm results and provide data to physicians to aid in diagnosis and treatment, while ensuring quality control and instrument maintenance.

This role involves training new staff, operating LIS/HIS systems, and participating in ongoing education. Comprehensive benefits and a collaborative hospital setting are offered.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent in medical lab tech with program completion.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic tests.
• Confirms test results and provides physicians with data necessary to determine presence, extent, cause, and treatment of disease.
• Follows quality control programs to assure accuracy and reliability of test results.
• Monitors, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Assists with training of new employees and students on lab equipment and procedures.
• Performs computer functions on LIS and HIS.
• Participates in continuing education in respective areas of expertise.
• Assists with inventory control.
