Job summary

Mercy is seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Technician/MLS to perform and interpret analyses on patient specimens. You will ensure accurate testing, QC, and timely reporting while collaborating with clinical staff to support patient diagnosis.

Minimum qualifications include an Associate’s degree with MLT/MLS certification (or within 6 months of hire); ASCP MT certification is preferred. Bachelor’s degree and 3 years in a clinical lab are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required.
• MLT or MLS certification or obtained within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3 years of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• MT(ASCP) or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform full range of testing and reporting per department policies.
• Record quality control, calibration, and instrument maintenance.
• Organize and prioritize work to meet defined turnaround times.
• Troubleshoot and resolve unexpected test results promptly.
• Document and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Participate in quality improvement and proficiency testing.
• Maintain compliance with health, safety, and accreditation standards.
