Job summary

CHRISTUS Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and complex laboratory procedures and report results. The role includes instrument maintenance, quality control, and potential phlebotomy or patient-oriented tasks in a per diem/PRN setting.

Candidates should hold a US bachelor’s degree in laboratory science or an equivalent credential and possess applicable certification (MT/MLS/CLS/MLT). Louisiana licensure is required; cross-training across sections may occur.

Qualifications

• No experience required for graduates of NAACLS-accredited programs or equivalent laboratory training.
• One year of approved clinical laboratory experience with rotations in Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Urinalysis/Body Fluids within the last 5 years.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine and complicated laboratory procedures in the assigned section.
• Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment; notifies Bio-med as needed.
• Cross-train to other laboratory sections as needed.
• Ensures the laboratory's quality control program is followed.
• Calculates, enters, and verifies results; utilizes the Laboratory Information System.
• Provides notification and documentation of critical laboratory values.
• Processes patient specimens, handling and distribution with attention to pediatric volumes when required.
• Participates in evaluation and implementation of new testing procedures and protocols.
• Adapts patient assessment and care methods to meet developmental needs of patients served.
• Adheres to CHRISTUS Health CORE values and completes required compliance tasks.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
