Job summary

The University of Cincinnati, Hoxworth Blood Center, Immunohematology Reference Laboratory (IRL) is recruiting two full-time Clinical Lab Scientist, Level 2 positions. One on second shift and one on third shift.

Strong critical thinking, communication, and independent work skills desired; blood banking experience preferred. Responsibilities include routine and complex quality control testing on blood and components, evaluating results, and reporting findings with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Sciences, or related biological field.
• Two years of relevant experience; six years can substitute for education.
• Certifications such as MLT/MLS/MT/BB/SBB may be required.
• Experience in blood banking is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and complex quality control testing on blood and components.
• Interpret test results with minimal supervision and communicate findings.
• Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment; ensure safety and cGMP compliance.
• Process incoming patient samples and prepare reagents for testing.
• Participate in data entry, reporting, and on-call scheduling.
