Job summary

Northwestern Medicine in Chicago is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform test procedures in a clinical laboratory and convey results to physicians accurately and promptly for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Responsibilities include pre-analytic workflow, specimen labeling, analytical testing, QC and instrument maintenance, and post-analytical reporting. This role offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Biology, or Allied Health qualifying the applicant to take the ASCP, or equivalent certification examination.
• General MLS or MT (ASCP) Certification or eligible or
• If hired after 1/19/2025 must be ASCP certified (or equivalent certification) within one year of employment

Responsibilities

• Performs all aspects of pre-analytic workflow appropriate for the specific laboratory section to ensure orders are entered correctly, specimens collected are appropriate for the test ordered and are correctly processed/transported.
• Verifies order where necessary and verifies non-patient information according to established protocol.
• Performs tests following established SOPs and ensures QC and instrument maintenance as scheduled

Education
