Job summary

Karius, a life science company in Redwood City, CA, seeks a CLA II to join the Clinical Laboratory Operations team. You will perform high-complexity testing under CLS supervision, handle accessioning, and support instrument maintenance in a fast‑moving biotech startup environment.

Requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Biological sciences and 3+ years of clinical lab experience, with preferred experience in Next-Generation Sequencing and aseptic techniques.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biological science or similar field.
• 3+ years of clinical laboratory experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
• Prior experience with Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) preferred.
• Knowledge of aseptic techniques used in a microbiology laboratory is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of licensed personnel, perform high complexity testing for commercial samples in accordance with regulatory requirements and SOPs.
• For non-commercial or clinical study samples, perform molecular procedures including specimen processing, nucleic acid extraction, PCR, library construction, sequencing, and data analysis.
• Receive, unpackage, and accession inbound samples per SOPs; collaborate with customer support to complete accessioning.
• Prepare samples for processing per good laboratory practices and contamination control procedures.
• Operate high-throughput automation workstations and use LIMS and other software in duties.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance for laboratory equipment and instruments.
• Support regulatory compliance and document work performed.
• Flag SOPs for update; draft or revise SOPs as directed.
• Identify and support process improvement initiatives as appropriate.
• Provide training and support to junior or new laboratory staff.
