Job summary

MercyOne Health System is hiring a Lab Assistant for a full-time, day-shift role to support multiple laboratory departments with collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of tests essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

You will perform venipunctures and specimen labeling, register and log specimens in the LIS, and help ensure data integrity, safety, and timely turnaround in a busy hospital setting.

• Laboratory experience and knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new systems quickly.

Responsibilities

• Performs venipunctures and specimen collection per policy.
• Identifies patients and specimens with two identifiers and labels correctly.
• Registers and logs specimens in LIS and scans documents.
• Performs specimen processing and proper documentation.
• Supports general lab operations and restocks supplies.
• Operates LIS for data entry and workflow management.
