Job summary

Prime Healthcare Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL seeks a Laboratory Assistant in the Clinical Lab to support pre-analytic processing and clerical tasks. Schedule is Full Time Days 8a-4:30p with rotating weekends, in a hospital setting.

Position requires HS diploma and ideally 1 year of lab experience; CPT I/II and BLS are preferred. You will perform specimen processing, data entry, and patient interaction under supervision while upholding CLIA guidelines.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
• Minimum 1-year clinical laboratory experience performing similar job functions preferred.
• State Certified as CPT I or CPT II if the laboratory is located in a state where required.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow CLIA guidelines and supervise requirements for unlicensed personnel during analytical testing.
• Perform clerical duties: computer entry, filing, telephone communication, greeting patients.
• Demonstrate knowledge of test terminology and phlebotomy procedures across age groups.
• Process specimens from multiple disciplines (pre-analytic phase).
• Stock supplies, maintain clean work areas, and assist in instrument maintenance and quality control as trained.
• Assist in pathology training and evaluation, act as runner, and transcribe post-analytic results.

Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent required.
