Job summary

The University of Virginia's UVA Community Health division seeks a Clinical Lab Assistant II to support pre-analytical specimen processing, data entry of demographics and orders, and specimen labeling and distribution. The role includes patient phlebotomy, QA participation, and training of CLA I staff as assigned.

On-site position with safety and teamwork at the core. Base compensation ranges hourly and reflects experience; strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associates or bachelor’s degree preferred.
• One year of health care or lab experience or CLA certification; or phlebotomy certification; or related BS program enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-analytical processing of specimens for testing.
• Data entry of patient demographics and orders; review of test orders.
• Assist with specimen labeling, distribution, and phlebotomy duties.
• Support safety and quality assurance activities; participate in continuous improvement.
• Orient and train CLA I staff as assigned.
