Job summary

Paradise Valley Hospital in National City seeks a Laboratory Assistant to support the clinical lab operations. You will handle clerical tasks, greet patients, and assist in phlebotomy and specimen processing across multiple departments.

Candidates should have a HS diploma, 1 year of lab experience (preferred), and state CPT I/II and BCLS certifications. This is a full-time evening shift with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• State CPT I or CPT II certification if required by the state.
• Current BCLS (AHA) certificate on hire and maintained.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties, data entry, and telephone communications.
• Greet patients and visitors in a polite and friendly manner.
• Demonstrates knowledge of laboratory terminology and good communication skills.
• Assists in phlebotomy and specimen collection from newborns to geriatric patients.
• Processes specimens across pathology, microbiology, immunology, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, chemistry, and blood bank.
• Prepares specimens for reference laboratory and maintains storage areas and equipment.
• Stocks supplies and may assist in instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.
• May assist in Pathology with training and evaluation; acts as runner as needed.

Education

HS Diploma or Equivalent
