Portsmouth Regional Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, invites applications for an Administrative Lab Assistant PRN to join the Laboratory Department. This role supports patient registration, specimen handling, and clerical tasks across shifts to sustain high-quality care.

The ideal candidate will have a High school diploma, demonstrate professionalism, protect patient privacy, and work collaboratively with lab and nursing teams to ensure accurate processing and timely communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Organizes and coordinates multiple functions in the Laboratory Department.
• Performs patient registration and accession lab orders as appropriate.
• Centrifuges and processes blood to prepare for shipping and testing in all laboratory areas.
• Responds to phone inquiries in a timely manner and refers problems to the appropriate supervisor.
• Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintains a clean working environment and manages inventory to reduce waste.
• Participates in quality and process improvement projects.
• Attends and participates in continuing education opportunities.
