Job summary

Huntsville Hospital is seeking a detail-oriented Administrative Coordinator in the Laboratory department to support clerical and nursing home operations, including scheduling, collecting specimens from Nursing and Group Homes, registering orders, printing, charting and filing reports.

Under the Laboratory Manager, you will ensure accurate charges, oversee staff training, review manuals, and help ensure timely submission of charts to coders while auditing nursing home bills for accuracy.

Qualifications

• Education: Prefer high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Experience: 2 years clerical experience after 1 to 2 months on-the-job training.
• Abilities/Skills: Verbal ability to communicate with patients and clientele; numerical calculation; form perception; finger dexterity; dependable.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate clerical and nursing home functions, including scheduling and collecting Nursing and Group Homes.
• Coordinate offsite collection site staffing, computer registration, order entry, printing, charting, mailing, faxing and filing of reports.
• Accession Pathology/Cytology specimens and answer telephone.
• Assure accurate charges and billing information; employee competency testing; procedure manual reviews/updates; clerical staff training.
• Ensure that charts are submitted to coder in a timely manner and review nursing home monthly bills for accuracy.
