Job summary

Huntsville Hospital Health System is seeking a lab support specialist to assist the laboratory by receiving and processing requisitions and specimens, and by ordering specified tests in accordance with standard operating procedures. You will respond to phone requests and enter lab data into the computer, contributing to efficient lab operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree with chemistry and biology hours preferred.
• MLA certification from a recognized agency (ASCP or AMT) preferred.
• Previous work experience strongly preferred; keyboarding 40 wpm preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical lab support by receiving/processing requisitions/specimens and ordering specified tests per SOPs.
• Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into the computer.
