Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings using evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing students during clinical experiences to ensure safe, competent, and professional practice.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback regarding academic and clinical performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain course materials, syllabi, examinations, assignments, and instructional resources consistent with program outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, clinical evaluations, and other required documentation.
  • Utilize the University's learning management system and other educational technologies to support instruction and communication.
  • Advise and mentor assigned students regarding academic progression, professional development, and program requirements.
  • Identify students requiring academic or clinical intervention and participate in remediation and student success initiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinical agencies, and health care professionals to coordinate quality clinical experiences.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, accreditation activities, assessment planning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, retention, pinning, commencement, and other School of Nursing activities.
  • Maintain professional licensure, clinical competence, certifications, and continuing education consistent with institutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, cultural competence, and compliance with university policies, accreditation standards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment that supports student engagement and academic success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or designee in support of the School of Nursing's mission and operational needs.

Minimum Education

Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university.

Preferred Education

Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing, or other earned doctoral degree from an accredited college or university.

Minimum Experience

Minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical nursing experience or the equivalenting the area(s) of assigned teaching responsibilities. Demonstrate competence in current evidence-based nursing practice. Experience working collaboratively with an interprofessional healthcare environment. Ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

Licenses/Certifications
  • ? Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Mississippi.
  • ? Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • ? Must maintain all required licensure and certifications in good standing throughout employment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice, nursing education principles, and safe, evidence-based patient care.
  • Strong instructional and clinical judgment skills in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
  • Ability to evaluate student performance, provide constructive feedback, and promote clinical reasoning and professional development.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, collaboration, problem-solving, and instructional technology skills.
  • Ability to maintain current clinical competence and credentials, uphold ethical and professional standards, foster an inclusive student-centered environment, and support curriculum implementation, assessment, accreditation, and the mission of the School of Nursing.
