Job Title

Assistant Professor/Coordinator, Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program

Essential Job Functions
Faculty Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses, including DNP-level instruction
  • Conduct a requisite number of classes and maintain assigned teaching load
  • Implement appropriate instructional methodologies to promote student learning
  • Develop course objectives, outlines, and student performance expectations
  • Maintain clinical and classroom teaching assignments and office hours
  • Assess student learning needs and assist in developing strategies to support student success
  • Grade assignments, provide feedback, and submit grades in accordance with university guidelines
  • Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation, and continuous improvement efforts
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and grant funding
  • Cooperate with faculty to enhance instruction, research, and public service programs
Coordinator, DNP Program Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and administrative oversight for the DNP program
  • Coordinate program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Develop and manage program calendars and schedules; ensure timely communication to students, faculty, and staff
  • Recommend and implement curriculum revisions based on program evaluation, faculty input, and accreditation standards
  • Coordinate development, review, and annual updates of clinical and preceptor forms and handbooks
  • Ensure clinical rotations and learning experiences align with course objectives and student level
  • Assist in developing retention and student success strategies to improve graduation rates
  • Provide guidance to faculty and students regarding program requirements, progression, and scheduling
  • Serve as administrator for clinical tracking systems (e.g., Typhon), ensuring accurate maintenance of student and faculty records
  • Participate in graduate student recruitment, admissions, and selection processes
  • Assist with orientation for graduate nursing students and faculty
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements

Qualifications
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or other terminal degree in Nursing or related field
  • Master’s degree in Nursing
  • Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience at the college or university level
  • Minimum of one (1) year clinical experience as a registered nurse
  • Experience in curriculum development and program coordination preferred
  • Research training, publication record, and grant experience commensurate with rank and tenure status preferred
  • Experience in online education preferred
Licenses/Certifications
  • Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Mississippi
  • Current national certification in an area of clinical specialty or nursing education (Family Nurse Practitioner preferred)
  • Credentialed as a Family Nurse Practitioner in Mississippi and other states as applicable (preferred)
