Qualifications

  • Preferred: Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) or PhD in Nursing or related doctoral degree.
  • Minimum two years of full-time clinical nursing experience or equivalent in teaching settings.
  • Must hold RN licensure in Mississippi and BLS certification.

  • Deliver instruction in classroom, lab, simulation and clinical settings using evidence-based teaching strategies.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deliver instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, andclinical settings using evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Supervise and evaluate nursing students during clinicalexperiences to ensure safe, competent, and professionalpractice.
  • Assess student learning and provide timely, constructivefeedback regarding academic and clinical performance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain course materials, syllabi,examinations, assignments, and instructional resources consistentwith program outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, clinicalevaluations, and other required documentation.
  • Utilize the University’s learning management system and othereducational technologies to support instruction andcommunication.
  • Advise and mentor assigned students regarding academicprogression, professional development, and programrequirements.
  • Identify students requiring academic or clinical interventionand participate in remediation and student successinitiatives.
  • Collaborate with faculty, clinical agencies, and health careprofessionals to coordinate quality clinical experiences.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program evaluation,accreditation activities, assessment planning, ad continuousquality improvement initiates.
  • Participate in student recruitment, orientation, retention,pinning, commencement, and other School of Nursing activities.
  • Maintain professional licensure, clinical competence,certifications, and continuing education consistent withinstitutional and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, culturalcompetence, and compliance with university policies, accreditationstandards, and state and federal regulations.
  • Foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environmentthat supports student engagement and academic success.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean or designee insupport of the School of Nursing’s mission and operationalneeds.

Qualifications

Minimum Education Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from anaccredited college or university. Preferred Education Doctorof Nursing Practice (DNP), Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing,or other earned doctoral degree from an accredited college oruniversity.

Minimum Experience ? Minimum of two (2) years of full-timeclinical nursing experience or the equivalenting the area(s) ofassigned teaching responsibilities. ? Demonstrate competence incurrent evidence-based nursing practice. ? Experience workingcollaboratively with an interprofessional healthcare environment. ?Ability to effectively communicate with students, faculty,healthcare professionals, and community partners.

Licenses/Certifications

? Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in theState of Mississippi. ? Current Basic Life Support (BLS)certification. ? Must maintain all required licensure andcertifications in good standing throughout employment.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of contemporary nursing practice,nursing education principles, and safe, evidence-based patientcare.
  • Strong instructional and clinical judgment skills in classroom,laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
  • Ability to evaluate student performance, provide constructivefeedback, and promote clinical reasoning and professionaldevelopment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational,collaboration, problem-solving, and instructional technologyskills.
  • Ability to maintain current clinical competence andcredentials, uphold ethical and professional standards, foster aninclusive student-centered environment, and support curriculumimplementation, assessment, accreditation, and the mission of theSchool of Nursing.
