Job summary

Inova Loudoun Hospital is seeking an RN Clinical Educator to work with the Simulation Lab on a part-time basis. The role focuses on assessing competency, integrating evidence-based education, and advancing quality and patient safety initiatives within the nursing team.

Minimum qualifications include a Master’s degree or BSN with MSN enrollment, Virginia RN licensure, BLS, and 2 years of nursing experience with 3 months as a preceptor. Flexible scheduling offered.

Clinical Educator Job Responsibilities

• Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
• Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
• Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
• Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.

Hours: Part-time, M-F 20 hours/week (flexible with works best for the department)

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Master’s Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master’s program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master’s program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following:
  • Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date
  • Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
  • Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
