Job summary

Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA is seeking an RN Clinical Educator to support the Cardiovascular Invasive (CVIR) department. The role focuses on assessing competency, developing education, and promoting patient safety.

This part-time position (20 hours/week, Monday–Friday) offers opportunities to mentor staff, implement evidence-based practice, and contribute to quality improvement initiatives within the Inova system.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree or BSN with enrollment in Master's program.
• 2 years of progressive nursing experience in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor.
• BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.

• Utilizes system strategies and tools to assess the competency of new nursing staff members while focusing on quality of care and patient safety goals.
• Integrates theoretical knowledge, evidence-based principles and clinical nursing expertise into educational experiences for both new and experienced team members.
• Prepares annual self-development plans, sets professional goals and seek opportunities for achieving them.
• Contributes to quality and safety initiatives across the organization.

Hours: Part-time, 20 hours/week (Monday- Friday, regular office hours)

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: Master's Degree or BSN and enrolled in Master's program upon start. If RN has a BSN and enrolled in Master's program, RN must meet with their Nurse Leader within 3 months to conduct the following:
  1. Provide a written plan with anticipated Masters completion date
  2. Submit a review of transcripts from the school indicating the required pre-requisites and timeline for taking the courses
  3. Complete Masters within 3 years of start date.
• Experience: 2 years of progressive experience in nursing in designated specialty; 3 months of experience serving as preceptor
• Certification: BLS from the American Heart Association; Licensed or eligible for licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse or an active multi-state RN License.
