Job summary

The Lincoln Center For Family And Youth is seeking a School-Based Counselor supervisor to lead recruitment, onboarding, and ongoing supervision of school-based mental health staff. Responsibilities

  • Recruit for all open school-based mental health positions.
  • Hire, train, and onboard counselors, social workers, behavioral analysts, crisis intervention specialists, college/career coaches, school climate coaches.
  • Provide direct, individual clinical supervision for licensed and unlicensed mental health staff.
  • Facilitate group supervision or case-conferences as required.
  • Monitor caseloads and ensure supervisees comply with all agency, clinical, legal, and ethical practices.
  • Provide ongoing, regular feedback and evaluation to staff on the quality and timeliness of their clinical work.
  • Counsel, motivate, and conduct performance reviews.
  • Oversee work procedures for all mental health professionals.
  • Ensure staff comply with licensure and registration requirements.
  • Ensure compliance, accuracy, and quality of clinical documentation.
  • Enhance operations by ensuring sufficient staffing and adequate access to services.
  • Develop programs and ensuring compliance with procedures and policies.
  • Identify training needs and make recommendations to agency’s learning and development director.

JOB DESCRIPTION: SCHOOL-BASED COUNSELOR
Position Summary

The Clinical Director recruits, hires, trains, and supervises the agency’s unlicensed and licensed practitioners, including school-based mental health counselors, social workers, crisis intervention specialists, and behavioral analysts.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development, trauma, chemical dependency,
  • dual diagnosis, domestic violence and sexually exploited minors
  • Highly skilled at supervising individual and family therapy and engaging caregivers in treatment
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with foster care and child welfare systems and services, community mental health, and/or community psychology models
  • Competent in working with psychological issues related race, ethnicity and class
  • Collaboration and team functioning - able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, able to proactively collaborate with other supervisors and program directors to ensure the best possible training for supervisees and service delivery for clients
  • Able to work effectively in an organizational setting and understand how to utilize the chain of command to resolve problems and bring program development ideas forward

  • Efficiency and time management
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn Medi-Cal reimbursement procedures and billing
Education & Experience
  • Master’s degree in counseling or social work required
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) designation required
  • At least five years of supervisory experience in a similar role

Time will be divided between office meetings with staff within the organization and meeting with potential donors.

Work Hours
