Responsibilities

The Dietitian will be a Certified Specialist in a designated specialty area as recognized by an appropriate governing body (e.g., A.N.D, CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc.). The specialist will perform duties in areas where their expertise is most needed, including:

  • Preparing and implementing nutritional care plans for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients in accordance with departmental policies and standards of care.
  • Prioritizing high-risk patients using daily Dietitian Census Reports.
  • Initiating supplements, snacks, calorie counts, and consistency modifications based on individual medical conditions.
  • Incorporating current evidence-based research into clinical practice.
  • Acting as a liaison between Nutritional Services and Medical, Nursing, and other ancillary staff.
  • Providing nutritional counseling to patients, families, and others as requested.
Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, License, or Certification Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Foods and Nutrition or related field, with completed Dietetic Internship or equivalent training.
  • Registered Dietitian credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
  • Current Georgia licensure as a Dietitian.
  • Specialized training in the indicated population.
  • Certified Specialist recognized by an appropriate governing body (e.g., A.N.D., CDR, A.S.P.E.N., etc.), or within two years of hire.
  • Proficiency in computer use.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of adult and/or pediatric education principles.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • At least one (1) year of clinical dietetics experience in the specialized area.

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, and participate in weekend call. Must complete at least 5 hours of specialty-specific continuing education annually and maintain certification.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical dietetics experience, including in the designated specialty area.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Master’s degree in nutrition or related field is highly preferred.
Work Hours:

8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Weekend Requirements:
