Sierra Medical Center in Reno, part of Northern Nevada Health System, plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to physicians’ diagnoses. It operates within a multidisciplinary care team and supervises diet clerks and support staff under the Nutritional Services Director.

The role involves assessing nutritional status, creating care plans, and evaluating interventions to adjust care as needed.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in nutrition approved by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (AND) and completion of a dietetic internship; eligible to sit for the RD exam.
• NV Dietitian licensure or eligible for provisional RD license within 1 year.
• Proof of current registration approved by the CDR within 1 year.

Responsabilidades

• Assesses patients’ nutritional status according to established standards.
• Obtains information from medical records to determine nutritional status.
• Develops nutritional care plans based on the patient’s cultural orientation.
• Evaluates the results of nutritional interventions to determine plan revisions.

Educación

Bachelor’s degree in nutrition approved by AND and completion of dietetic internship; eligible to take the national RD exam

NV Dietitian licensure or within 1 year with Provisional RD License

Registration with CDR (within 1 year)

Job summary

Plans and delivers nutritional care to patients according to the physicians’ diagnoses. Performs as a member of the multidisciplinary care team. Supervises nutritional services diet clerks and other support personnel. Exercises independent judgment under the general supervision of the Nutritional Services Director.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

• Assesses patients’ nutritional status according to established standards
• Obtains necessary information from the medical record to determine patient’s nutritional status.
• Develops nutritional care plans based on the cultural orientation of the patient
• Evaluates the results of nutritional intervention on the patient’s nutritional status to determine the need to revise the nutritional care plan.

Qualifications
