About the Job:

The Clinical Dietitian position at WellStar Health System’s Paulding Hospital is responsible for providing medical nutrition therapy to patients in the outpatient oncology department. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in dietetics and a minimum of 2 years of experience in the healthcare field. Experience in oncology nutrition and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential.

Responsibilities:

1. Performs nutrition screening, assessment, and development of care plans for patients at high nutrition risk
2. Provides nutrition education to patients and their families
3. Collaborates with other healthcare team members to provide comprehensive care to patients
4. Participates in performance improvement and research activities
5. Mentors dietetic interns

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution with a major in dietetics
• Master’s Degree preferred
• Minimum 2 years experience in the healthcare field
• Experience in oncology nutrition preferred
• Computer Skills: experience with MS Office (word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software)
• Capable of preparing and delivering presentations
• Strong organizational skills
• Knowledge of menu planning and converting nutrient recommendations into food and menus
• Training in counseling and education for individual and group work
• Ability to troubleshoot problems related to special needs, such as seniors, families, low-income patients, clinical conditions, and co-morbidities
• Maintain effective relationships with other healthcare professionals when sharing patients
• Strong written, verbal, and communication skills
• Ability to prioritize patient interests and health considerations
