Job summary

Qualifications

• Completion of a baccalaureate degree in nutrition or dietetics and ACEND Didactic Program in Dietetics.
• ACEND prospective students must complete their baccalaureate degree within 8 months of hire.
• Strong understanding of nutrition science and evidence-based practice.
• Ability to develop nutritional care plans for review by the Clinical Dietitian.
• Oral and written communication with patients, families, and hospital staff; supervisory skills for menu collection.
• Knowledge to provide nutrition care considering age, culture, and dietary preferences.
• Computer competency in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct nutrition screening according to pre-established criteria.
• Collect and review food and nutrient intake information.
• Obtain anthropometric information from records or interviews.
• Visit patients and document risk notifications and results in the system.
• Provide nutrition interventions/plans of care as directed by the Clinical Dietitian.
• Respond to patient inquiries regarding interventions.
• Verify that the nutrition plan meets patient needs.
• Provide nutrition monitoring and evaluation through meal rounds and documentation.
• Discuss menu selections with patients and families and revise plans as needed.
• Collaborate with Food Service Management regarding daily activities of Room Service Hosts.
• Act as liaison between nursing and Food & Nutrition Services.
